Erin Lewis
Ms. Lewis’ legal career began with a prominent law firm in Macon, Georgia where she maintained a general practice. Her work included corporate defense, business law, insurance defense, personal injury, real estate and employment matters. Erin then went on to serve as the General Counsel for a technology company which specialized in developing and licensing ground penetrating radar and accompanying software. She managed the company’s litigation, which was spread over multiple states and jurisdictions (Georgia, Massachusetts, Florida, New York and Washington, D.C.), often managing multiple employees and in-house and outside attorneys. Erin also became very experienced in assisting in the prosecution of her company’s patents globally and in litigating multiple intellectual property disputes.
Erin assists clients in the areas of real estate, general litigation, insurance defense, garnishments, bankruptcy, HIPAA policies, employee claims, shareholder derivative suits and other corporate matters. She continues to work closely with businesses in various areas of general business law, negotiations and complex commercial suits. Erin’s clients include boards of education, apartment complexes, land owners, construction companies, electrical contractors, physicians, state and local governmental entities, trucking companies and business owners and officers. Not only has she worked in federal and state courts in various jurisdictions, Erin has also handled alternative dispute matters lasting from half a day to over five days (mediation and arbitration). Due to the broad range of Erin’s experience she is able to work with clients having diverse legal requirements.
Erin is a native of Jacksonville, FL and graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1996 after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/International Politics with a minor in Religion. During her undergraduate studies, Erin also attended Georgetown University, George Washington University (both in Washington, DC) and the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. Her studies were in furtherance of the educational emphases on international relations and language arts study. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Erin was involved in multiple interesting projects. Not only did she assist several non-profit entities in marketing and fund raising (inner city women’s sports development and Bosnian relief focused on re-building playgrounds), she worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for a Florida Congressman and assisted paleontologists from the Smithsonian Institute in dinosaur excavations (Maryland and Wyoming). Erin received her Juris Doctor degree in 2002 from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, where she was a member of the Bootle Inn of Courts and served as the President of the Christian Legal Society. Today Ms. Lewis stays busy at work and at home chasing her two little boys around with her husband.
